We want to reach those kids who need such inspiration and support. Help us bring all kids to a shared future driven by scientific discovery which enables cutting edge technology using amazing engineering efforts to improve all of our lives.
- Science North: Science is inclusive; it crosses subjects, genders, communities, and age groups. It develops literacy, numeracy and technical skills, and it shapes our future. In short Science is powerful, and important!
As we think about the future that lies ahead of us, and the global issues we face, it becomes even clearer that science is fundamental. On #GivingTuesday we ask you to consider supporting Science North in its mission to provide engaging, educational and exciting exhibits, initiatives and programs on an annual basis.
- Visions of Science Network for Learning: We are looking to raise $6000 to support over 400 low-income and marginalized youth to participate in FREE on-going science programming across the GTA. Visions of Science serves over 300 youth on a yearly basis by proving free yearly science clubs and summer camps directly within communities. Our goal is to support youth to succeed and aspire to do great things! Please support us. A donation of $20 covers experimental materials for one youth for an entire year of programming!
- Science East Science Centre: Science East is New Brunswick’s science centre. Our mission is to inspire and inform through hands-on science experiences.
- Youth Science Canada:Every year, over 500,000 young Canadians participate in project-based science – as many as are registered in play minor hockey. Unlike hockey, the numbers don’t last. And no wonder. If we played hockey the way we play science – “Read the chapter on body-checking and answer the questions at the back” – there would be a lot less hockey in this country. Since 1962, Youth Science Canada has played a vital role in nurturing the scientific impulse amongst our youth – encouraging them to get their hands dirty and develop scientific and technological knowledge and skills through project-based science.
- hEr Volution: hEr VOLUTION is an award-winning charitable organization created to focus on developing opportunities for underserved communities by delivering innovative STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) initiatives. Since its incorporation in 2013, we have partnered with some of the best innovators and professionals to deliver these initiatives from learning about the basics in science, technology, engineering, and math sector to providing a once in a lifetime opportunity of being introduced to globally recognized technology companies. Through our work at hEr VOLUTION students have been given unique opportunities that have opened doors and interest in young people from the GTA’s most underserved communities. These students have transformed their STEM fears and are now seeking to learn more about science and technology.
- Nanaimo Science: The mission of the Nanaimo Science and Sustainability Society (Nanaimo Science) is to inspire children and develop their interest in science and sustainability through hands-on learning.
- Canada Wide Virtual Science Fair: Founded in 1999, the Canada Wide Virtual Science Fair is an annual online science and technology contest open to all Canadian students in grades K-12. There are absolutely no fees charged for participation and free web site hosting is provided to each project team. Children from remote locations and small rural schools can compete equally with their urban peers. The completed projects are judged by a distinguished group of judges. Similar to traditional science fairs, the Virtual Science Fair challenges students to explore, examine and analyze scientific questions that arise in the course of their studies or life experiences. However, most significantly, the Virtual Science Fair frees students from the physical, geographic and financial constraints of participating in typical science fairs at the national level.

It is a unique centre for recreational and popular science, which includes activities targeting school and tourist clienteles. We have been operating since 1976, starting out as a public observatory and developing into a science centre in 1986. We have been offering science awareness workshops since 1991, and have been accredited as a science museum since 2001. Our dream does not end there, however – we are nurturing many other ambitions! Every year, ASTER makes the rounds of the schools, reaching 40,000 students from across Canada: Québec, the Maritimes, Ontario, the Prairies and the West coast.

- Actua: Actua’s mission is to provide life-changing experiences in STEM so that ALL youth can be inspired to achieve their full potential.
- Beakerhead Creative Society: On the surface, Beakerhead looks like a week of spectacular fun every September. But it’s more than a schedule of mesmerizing events: it’s a time and place where engineers show their creative sides, and artists get technical, where science hits the street, and everyone gets ingenious. Leading with hands-on entertainment, Beakerhead advances the understanding of science and engineering as part of everyday life – through art and culture. It creates a world of collision and collaboration. Yes, indeed, sparks do fly when “things technical” meet “things creative”. Have we got your attention? Welcome to Beakerhead!
- Relay Education: Relay Education has pioneered educational programs about renewable energy and energy conservation for the past decade. Our hands on experiential educational programs have grown out of interest of the Windshare turbine located at Exhibition Place which is the first urban-sited, cooperatively owned turbine in North America.
- Scientists in School: Scientists in School’s mission is to ignite scientific curiosity in children so that they question intelligently; learn through discovery; connect scientific knowledge to their world; are excited about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); and have their interest in careers in those fields piqued.

Most of our projects fall under our “Oceans Initiative” program. We are a team of scientists on a mission to protect marine life, including whales, dolphins, sharks, salmon & seabirds, in Canada and beyond. Like the whales we study, we are highly migratory. We spend half our time getting our feet wet in the field, wherever our work is needed, but the other half is spent using our science to inform smart decisions to conserve wildlife.
