Let’s Talk Science at the University of Saskatchewan

GET READY TO WONDER! WITH SCIENCE RENDEZVOUS ~ MAY 10, 2025

Science Rendezvous invites you to join the fun and WONDER! on May 10, 2025, with an exciting line-up of events, activities, and demos available for FREE!

Join us on campus at the University of Saskatchewan for a day of activity booths, campus tours, and more drop-in family fun! This year’s theme is WONDER! As such, we plan to showcase the wondrous science innovations happening in Saskatoon and at the U of S campus!

Time: Saturday, May 10th, 2025 – 10 AM – 4 PM

Location: Agriculture Building Atrium – 51 Campus Drive Saskatoon, SK S7N 5A8

Public: Kids from kindergarten to 9th grade. All youth must be accompanied by a responsible adult supervisor.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight 🌟

Emily Verhoek is the Outreach and Teaching Coordinator at the Elbow Lake Environmental Education Centre.

Emily has been involved with Science Rendezvous since 2017. "Over the years, we have been able to focus on topics that are important to our local area and bring wildlife like turtles, fish, and insects to the events and allow children to get a closer look!", she shares.

"Every year, it’s so rewarding to see visitors’ faces when they get to interact with or encounter something new (or old in a new way)."

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight 🌟

Melanie Gregg is a Professor in the Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health, The University of Winnipeg.

Melanie became involved with Science Rendezvous in 2019, when the theme was incorporating the Arts into STEM. "We organized a session on dance and it's relationship to STEAM. Dr. Tabitha Wood reached out and asked if our department would get involved."

"My favourite was the demonstration we did with point shoes in clay, so you can see how much more pressure/force occurs when on pointe compared to dispersing the pressure with flat feet", she shares.

Alyssa Yang is a Master of Science Candidate at th

Alyssa Yang is a Master of Science Candidate at the University of Toronto. She has been involved with Science Rendezvous since 2017! "From the moment I joined as a standard volunteer, I knew this was an organization I wanted to be deeply involved with", she shared.

"The idea of a STEAM outreach event immediately caught my attention, and after learning more about it, I knew this was an organization I wanted to join and represent. Over the years, SR has grown exponentially, expanding its mission to promote STEAM to youth and marginalized communities, especially Indigenous communities. Additionally, SR continues to innovate and grow through projects like the Million Tree Project and SRHacks. Not to mention the utmost supporting team at SR National."

Alyssa has contributed in various roles over the years, including as a volunteer, executive member, head executive, and now as co-chair. Thank you for being an invaluable member of the Science Rendezvous community, Alyssa!

Meet Tim Igbokwe - a recent #UWindsor graduate and a passionate advocate for science education and outreach!

Tim's dedication to inspiring the next generation shines through his roles as a former volunteer and current coordinator for Let's Talk Science as well as student chair of Science Rendezvous Windsor in 2023 and 2024.

“My involvement in Science Rendezvous has shown me that I love to work with children,” Tim shares. He now hopes to pursue a career in medicine and is considering working with youth in the future. Regardless of the path he takes, we know that Tim is on a mission to make a difference!
