Giizhik teachings were created in what is now called Winnipeg, Manitoba, Treaty One Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe (Ojibway), Ininew (Cree), Oji-Cree, Dene, and Dakota, and which is the birthplace of the Métis Nation and the Heart of the Métis Nation Homeland. This document aims to guide us in moving beyond mere land acknowledgment towards a proactive commitment to appreciating the significance of Giizhik/Cedar and caring for our planet.
