Join Let's Talk Science Outreach to read Joseph Anthony's book, "The Dandelion Seed," and complete a hands-on science activity about seeds and seed dispersal!
In this activity, students will examine seeds and make predictions on how they disperse. They will then make a simple seed carrier that flies like a maple key using everyday household items.

Energy at Home: Become an Earth Doctor
Do you want to be an Earth Doctor? Explore the steps of land reclamation with land reclamation scientists from Future Energy Systems and the Land Reclamation International Graduate School, University of Alberta. By playing along with the Dungeons and Dragons style game, you will face the challenges of land reclamation and try to heal the Earth yourself.
This session is recommended for children age 10 to 16 and families, but all are welcome. The supplies you will need are: blank paper, pencil or pen and one dice (or random number generator). Dr. Valerie Miller will walk you through a fun game for the whole family to enjoy in this interactive learning experience on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 6:00-7:00 PM MT.
Presented in partnership with the Edmonton Public Library for Science Literacy Week 2021, which runs concurrently with Energy Week. This activity is part of the Energy at Home series, which provides an opportunity for families to engage with energy systems research and learn more about the wonderful world of energy.
