“I think it’s particularly interesting how science can serve as a means of measuring environmental health,” says Cailin Correia, “and how it can be used alongside other forms of knowledge to create innovative solutions to the environmental challenges we are facing.”
After graduating from McGill University in Environmental Biology, she moved close to the mountains she grew up with in Victoria, BC. Then she began volunteering with Science Rendezvous. As a member of the National Science Communication team, she looked forward to having others join her excitement about the endless possibilities that science has to offer! Passionate about informing communities across Canada on participating in local green action projects and green educational opportunities, she was an asset to helping us make S.T.E.AM. Green content!
“Science Rendezvous makes science accessible among large and diverse audiences. The event features visual and interactive components, creating a space for all who are interested to share their knowledge, thoughts and ideas.”
Cailin discovered Science Rendezvous through her recent position as a Communications Coordinator with Ocean Networks Canada, a not-for-profit organization based in Victoria, BC, that pursues marine research and promotes ocean literacy. Currently, Cailin is also volunteering for a community meal program and works as a senior caregiver. This summer, Cailin is trying her hand at farming and looks forward to being outside among the vegetables she loves so dearly.
We want to thank Cailin so much for her time helping us make the Science Chase amazing and pass on her #STEAMGreen book recommendations!
